1. Niagara Falls
Located on the border between the United States and Canada, Niagara Falls is one of the most famous water formations in the world since, despite not being one of the highest – it is just over 50 meters -, it is one of those with greater amplitude (56 kilometers) and, therefore, you can witness a spectacle with its strong waterfall. In fact, in the Iroquois language, the term ” Niagara ” means ” thunder of water “, a name that was given to the huge waterfall due to the noise that is constantly produced.
Most tourists arrive thanks to a Niagara Falls one day tour from New York or other cities in the United States and Canada, so if you are walking around the Big Apple or one of the cities closest to the border, do not hesitate to take one of these excursions, you will surely be fascinated by this great sparkling water festival.
2. Kalandula Falls
These are another natural wonder found in the municipality of Kalandula, in Angola. This is one of the largest waterfalls in all of Africa – along with Victoria Falls – as it has a height of 105 meters and more than 400 meters wide.
From January to April you can see the waterfall in its greatest splendor, as it is the rainy season and, in addition to the fact that the jungle that surrounds it becomes more lush, the amount of water that falls is much greater than the rest of the year. The Kalandula Falls are not a very crowded place for tourists so if you are looking for hidden and relaxing paradises, surely this is the ideal place.
To get there you can do it from the Melanje town which is an hour away by car, even in Kanadula there is a hotel, in case you want to disconnect for one or more days.
3. Iguazu Falls
Another of the most renowned and impressive waterfalls, and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, are the Iguazú Falls, located on the border between Argentina and Brazil. They attract your attention because of their greenish color, their shape and the wonderful rainbow that stands out from the foam. The falls are created by the union of 275 waterfalls – 80% of them are on the Argentine side -, the largest is the Devil’s Throat, 80 meters high and you can see it from a viewpoint that is 30 meters under the top.
To visit them you can do both on the Argentine (Misiones) and the Brazilian (Paraná) side, you can even find hotels in Foz do Iguaçu or Puerto Iguazú so you can enjoy the place calmly.
4. Dettifoss Waterfall
At the north of Iceland is the Dettifoss waterfall, one of the European waterfalls with the largest volume of water and, likewise, one of the most attractive in the country. The water of the Jökulsá á Fjöllum river falls on the Jökulsárgljúfur canyon from just over 40 meters high, forming a dense wall of water 100 meters wide.
The place can be visited through a tourist route called ” Diamond Circle “, you can access a part by vehicle and then walk through a short path. It is ideal that you visit the waterfall during the spring, summer or autumn seasons, since in winter the roads are closed.
5. Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls, or “The Smoke That Thunders”, is located on the border between Zambia (Livingstone) and Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls), in Africa. Its depth is almost 130 meters which, during the rainy season, causes a huge curtain of water that makes them look even more exuberant than they already are.

6. Angel Falls
In Venezuela there is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Latin America, discovered in 1933 by the American aviator James Ángel. The Angel Falls have earned the title of being the highest in the world for having a depth of more than 900 meters.
To get to them it is necessary to take transport to the Canaima National Park, from where exclusive excursions are made to see this masterpiece.
7. Gitgit Waterfall
Bali is an Indonesian city with wonderful landscapes everywhere. One of its many tourist attractions is the GitGit waterfall located in the north of the city, that has a height of 35 meters, very little compared to those mentioned above. But, what makes it impressive is that the water makes its way over a lush layer of tropical forest.

8. Trummelbach Falls
From April to November you can be encouraged to visit the Trummelbach Falls in Switzerland, this waterfall is born from the union of 9 waterfalls and there is something that makes it the only one of its kind, the waterfall falls inside a mountain and, as if that were not enough, to access it you must take an elevator that takes you from the parking lot, located at the base of the mountain, to the top.
The falls are located precisely in Lauterbrunnen and are the product of the melting of the Jungfrau glaciers, this climatic effect, in addition to maintaining the flow of water, produces up to 20 tons of stones that fall incessantly and produce a noise so loud that the entrance to Children under 6 years of age is prohibited, as their eardrums may be affected.
